This paper highlights a study on the design requirements for experimenting spark gap using SF6 gas mixture as an insulating material in a low pressure chamber. The design is based on the study of switchgear system in the electric power industry and also by estimations done through calculations. The priority is to avoid failure and reduce leakage rate due to the usage of SF6 which is the most potent greenhouse gas. The estimations, calculations and suitable design for this experiment are presented in this paper.en_US
