In the field of structural maintenance, retrofitting or strengthening with externally bonded plates is the most popular choice now a days. For strengthening different types of plates are used normally for externally bonded method. However, the premature failure is the weakest point of the system. The debonding is initiated due to the formation of crack. The main aim of this article is to predict the bond strength using externally bonded steel plate considering the effect of crack. In this experimental program a number of 12 prisms were prepared and tested, 10 prisms were strengthened with steel plate with different width and length and two were the control prisms. The analysis of the results show the prisms with an increased width of steel plate give higher bond strength and also the prisms with higher length give higher bond strength.en_US
