Turbine Bypass System

Abstract

The functions of the turbine bypass system are reduce the unit start-up time by overcoming the furnace exit gas temperature limitations. This is achieved by establishing steam flow through the turbine bypass system to the reheater during the start-up period, allow accurate turbine steam/metal temperature matching within shorter start-up periods, allow for low load and two shift operation by bypassing steam and reducing load on the turbine, allow house load operation, stabilises combustion during turbine/generator trip or major load fluctuations, act as s superheater and reheater safety valve.
