Abstract: The study o f metal cutting focuses on the features o f the behavior o f tool and work piece material, which influence the efficiency and quality o f cutting operations. The metal cutting action involves pressing o f a cutting tool against the workpiece, with certain degree o f force, resulting in removal o f material from the workpiece, in the form of chips [1]. Hence, the development of cutting tool materials has been the primary focus in the cutting industries. The technology o f metal cutting has been improved by contribution from all the branches o f industry with an interest in machining. Productivity has been increased through replacement o f carbon tool steel by high -speed steel and cemented carbide which allows cutting speeds to be increased by many folds [1, 2], Increasing the productivity and the quality o f the machined parts are the main challenges o f manufacturing industry [3, 4], Modem cutting tools, allow cutting at high speeds, thus increasing the volume o f chips removed per unit time and this objective requires better management o f the machining system corresponding to cutting tool-machine toolworkpiece combination to go towards more rapid metal removal rate [5, 6],
