This paper investigates Peng's control strategy in harmonics compensation with the aim to reduce the size of DC link capacitor. A simple design is proposed to achieve the goal, i.e. implementing a DC voltage regulator to estimate the power loss of the converter and feedback that losses into the original Peng's control strategy. A three-phase, four-wire system which couple to some nonlinear loads is simulated for this study. Simulation results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed design. © 2011 IEEE.
