Abstract: Social microblogging platforms such as Twitter have been used by many users to express their sentiments and opinions resulting in exponentially growing amounts of heterogeneous data. This opens new research proposals to map with such data many natural phenomena. In this paper, we visualize various patterns related to multilingualism on social microblogging platforms. In particular, we analyze characteristics of Twitter users based on their choice of languages and the change in locations from which they tweet. The analysis we undertake assumes language and location of tweets as key factors. The results show that locations and languages are correlated with mobility patterns of multilingual Twitter users. © 2018 Association for Computing Machinery.
