Abstract: The memristor is the fourth fundamental passive circuit element, where it can retain its resistance when the excitation is removed. The memristor, among many applications, has been implemented in the arbiter PUF, a circuit that functions as a hardware security primitive. For better mathematical modelling and simulation based on the linear ion drift model, memristor window functions have been introduced. This paper presents the study on the effect of using three different memristor window functions on the performance of the memristor-based arbiter PUF in terms of uniqueness, uniformity, and bit-aliasing. The overall results show minimal difference in the performance of the memristor-based arbiter PUF among the three window functions, meaning that there is little effect on the performance due to the memristor window function. The memristor-based arbiter PUF performs well irrespective of the memristor window function used.
