Abstract: This paper presented two time periods segmentation based on the six (6) actual residential customers load profile data collected from the Smart Saver pilot project implemented in Peninsular Malaysia using Jenks Natural Breaks. The load profile was collected through the smart meter installed in the residential area which has the capability of recording household electricity consumption at 30-minutes intervals or 48-time intervals in a day. A randomize 40-customer within ±40% range based on the actual residential load profile were generated to determine the effect of the segmentation using the proposed method. A two periods segmentation using Jenks Natural Breaks was performed based on the randomization of the 40-customer load profiles. Time-of-Use periods are proposed for the residential customers in Peninsular Malaysia via the load profile collected. The results indicate that the time-of-use Peak period is between 7.00am to 7.00pm while the Off-Peak period is between 12.00am to 7.00am and 7.00pm-12.00pm. © 2018 IEEE.
