Abstract: Peninsular Malaysia has always been largely dependent on gas fuel as a source of generating electricity. The development of gas pipelines project in Peninsular Malaysia such as the interconnection between Thailand and Singapore has improved supply demands. The affiliation with other ASEAN countries in sharing natural gas sources also guarantees a secure line supply, mainly coming from Natuna Indonesia and Joint Development Area (JDA) Thailand. In particular, Peninsular Malaysia has a well-developed pipeline transmission system to ensure a more balanced energy-mix and environmentally sustainable energy supply. Domestic gas fuel pipelines are necessary to not just provide fuel for power generation, but also to maintain a stable supply of fuel and feedstock for industries. Not only is gas fuel environmentally clean, Malaysia could increase its earnings through the export sales of indigenous gas.
